From our CEO down, through every level of the organisation, we’re totally focused on acting as a responsible hotelier and being one of the best companies in the world. This involves and includes each and every one of us. We’ve already taken many initiatives and established key priorities. Our global Corporate responsibility framework provides a clear strategy for how we will work together to benefit the environment and the many communities we serve. Our Winning Ways define how as a company, we will all aim to Do the right thing and Show we care. If we can all Work better together we really can, and will, achieve great things.

Our communities
IHG is actively involved in local community issues wherever we do business. We have a clear mission to support local economic development in the communities in which we operate. Our goal is to be a valued, responsible community partner by ensuring that our business objectives enhance the quality of life in our communities. We provide support through financial contributions, in-kind donations and volunteer initiatives.
To ensure our long-term success we need to add value wherever we do business. By helping to build human capital within our local communities, we can continue to grow and contribute to develop their economic success. In partnership with local institutions in China, IHG has established the IHG Academy to provide hotel management training while also ensuring that IHG has the employees it needs to grow.
In 2007, IHG donated £626,000 in support of community initiatives and charitable causes at corporate level. Employees are also encouraged to give their time and skills to a variety of causes. IHG also makes considerable donations in-kind, primarily though hotel accommodation. Taking into account these contributions together with the charitable donations made by our franchised and managed hotels, the total amount exceeds $14m.
