Candlewood Suites is focused on comfort, space and value. At 213 properties located throughout North America, guests find spacious studio and one-bedroom suites each with their own fully equipped kitchen, large workspace, overstuffed recliner, VCR and/or DVD and CD player, complimentary high-speed internet access and telephones with voicemail and free local calls. The complimentary fitness center and guest laundry are open around the clock, and the Candlewood Cupboard® is open 24 hours for snacks, refreshments, entrées and other necessities. Candlewood Suites hotels offer guests all of this at a very comfortable price.

  • To commemorate its 10th anniversary in 2006, Candlewood Suites joined forces with Habitat for Humanity to create home ownership opportunities for low-income families, announcing a commitment to build ten houses over the next three years in the U.S., Latin America and India.
  • The first house was completed September 2006 in Dallas, Texas and the second was completed November 2007 in Alcozauca, Mexico. Candlewood Suites will also build Habitat houses in Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Richmond, Wichita, and outside the U.S. in India.

 

Our history

1995

Candlewood Suites founded by Jack DeBoer, the forefather of the extended stay segment.

2003

InterContinental Hotels Group acquires the Candlewood Suites brand from Candlewood Hotel Corporation for US$15 million together with an agreement to enter into a management contract with Hospitality Properties Trust (HPT) to manage 76 Candlewood Suites properties.

2004

J.D. Power and associates recognises Candlewood Suites as a leader for guest satisfaction in the 2004 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study.

2004

Candlewood Suites is named best in customer satisfaction in America-based Market Metrix Hospitality Index survey.

2005

Candlewood launches the national “Candlewood Cares” program, which provides a free suite for the night to anyone forced out of their homes due to fire or damage caused by severe weather.

2006

Announced international expansion plans into Canada.

2006

Introduced its proprietary bedding collection, “Comforts of Home” including an “E-Z Skirt” and unique duvet cover, both designed with care for guests and housekeepers alike.

2006

Announced plans for the first mid-priced extended-stay hotel in New York City.

2007

Opened first property outside the U.S. in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

2007

Announced its latest prototype design featuring a comfortable residential look and feel with a new exterior design and paint scheme, an expanded lobby and environmentally-friendly amenities.
